I have always received straight A’s and have a 4.0 UW and 4.3 W. This semester I am really struggling with AP Calc and AP physics C. I currently have an 89 in both of these classes and am really nervous I will end up with a B in them. This would still give me a 4.4 for this semester but it would technically be a drop in GPA. I am applying to a bunch of Ivy’s that will need semester grades how bad will this look. Also Physics C is regarded as the hardest class at my school if that matters.
Is your major in relation to math and physics?
If you are interested in the “TEM” part of STEM, then I don’t understand why you are focused on Ivy’s. Otherwise, I don’t understand why you are taking AP Calc and AP physics C.
To me you still look like you are on track to get into good universities, regardless of whether or not an Ivy is on the list.
@sur123 So it is math based but not calc based, I plan on majoring in finance. The reason I took Physics is just because I really like the teacher.
@DadTwoGirls I plane on majoring in finance but we don’t have many options like that at my school so I am just taking whatever AP classes I feel like. I herd that Ivys were worth it for finance due to the connections and investment banks caring about prestige.
“I heard that Ivys were worth it for finance”
I have heard the same thing. Good luck with this. You may just need to put in a LOT of effort and try to pull those B+'s up to an A-. I have seen it done when the grade at this point in the year was lower than an 89.
