How badly will this affect my chances?

<p>Hello all.
I'm a Junior and I've just committed the stupidest mistake ever.</p>

<p>Brief run through of "Stupidest Mistake Ever" : I changed my answer on a Physics test after it was graded and submitted it for a regrade and was caught. Along with another 10 people.
Anyway, I got suspended for a day and I'm pretty sure this falls under Academic Dishonesty.
I'm doing the IB. I have decent grades. Even in Physics. My SAT score is 2200.
How much will this suspension affect my chances of admission into top colleges?
I know I shouldn't have done it and couldn't regret my actions more.
Will try and compensate with good essays. I know I can't ever completely compensate for my actions but...
Oh and to make things worse, I'm an International Applicant</p>

<p>Well… it depends. Is it on your permanent record? Will your counselor mention it in his/her recommendations? Did you receive any kind of serious disciplinary action for this? </p>

<p>If none of the above, then take it as a lesson well learned and colleges could never find out. If it is on your transcript or something, then it might affect your chances a bit. But perhaps you can talk about it and admit that you’ve made a very bad decision. They appreciate honesty.</p>

<p>More than a bit. Colleges have enough great applicants (especially international) that they don’t need to accept people about which they have integrity concerns.</p>
