My CommonApp has one mistake... I proof read it 3 times and everything... but for some reason I never noticed it. It's not that bad.. its "than" instead of "that".

How big a deal is it?

How big a deal is it?

Not big at all ... they understand that students often make small mistakes because of the pressure and everything.

Thanks! You've calmed the nerves :)

I know how you feel - I forgot one period and was freaking out about whether it would affect my chances.

ask a dean...............maybe different school has different ideas

Do not do anything of that sort, just stay calm and relax. One friggin' spelling error will not reject you. I could bet anything on that. Don't waste their time by calling up or writing to them and fussing over one word. Believe in yourself.

No problem at all. Chances are, no one will even notice it. It's not like you used "your" instead of "you're." Relax. Have a good weekend.

I am having the exact same problem right now and I am freaking out as well. I typed "my" instead of the word "by" and "the" without the the "t" in the same sentence. I sent this essay to only one of my schools but, unfortunately, it was my top choice. I read mine over numerous times and, just like Tiramisu, I did not catch them. Will two spelling errors bring me down??

Instead of writing the phrase "as soon as" I forgot the last "as." Now it sounds like "as soon class starts..." I certainly hope they breeze over it :(

Colleges are not looking to reject people over trivial oversights. A spelling mistake or two is not going to cause a rejection.
