I have posted many times on here before, and many of you know my background (probably too well). Well, I am in the running for my county’s School Board Student Representative. I know this will take a large chunk of my time that I probably didn’t have to begin with (I can always be flexible and make it work, though). I need to know how important this truly is on applications to determine if it is worth my time. Thanks for the responses in advance.
It seems like your main desire to do this activity is so that you can put in on apps. In that case, don’t do it.
I honestly believe that it doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you do it with heart, and thus a consequence, you go above and beyond.
School Board Student Representative? Sure, sounds cool.
School Board Student Representative that introduced a unique after-school program that has been adopted in the entire city school district? Wow, now we’re talking!
Well it’s not just the college app purpose. I have an immense interest in politics and want this to be the first stepping stone. I also have a love for the community and high school students in the area and want to do it for them also. The only thing holding me back is the time consuming nature of it. Thanks for the reply @PartyNextDoor
Colleges will know how time consuming it is based on what you write on your common app (I think the hours/week), essays, any achievements you perhaps may get.
Your essays will kind of show how committed you were to the activity and your recs/achievements will gauge your impact on the school and society so if you put in the hours (which you will based on your description), then you will have a lot to talk about in your essays and your recs (especially the counselor rec) will be good.
