How big of a reach is UPenn

So lately, I have been putting together my list of colleges to apply to, and I have decided to make UPenn my reach school for Early Decision. The question is, how big of a reach is it? If my chances are practically zero, I won't apply (like Harvard, I'd never waste my time applying there).

Asian Male I go to a suburban public school. If I do apply, it'll be at the Colleges of Arts and Sciences.
GPA Weighted: 4.1 Top 10% of my class Not sure about unweighted, but I got a B+ in 9th grade English, A- in 9th grade science and 10th grade English. The rest are all A's.

Honors/APs:
10th: Honors Spanish III
Honors Modern World History

11th:
APUSH- 5 on exam
AP Computer Science A -4 on exam
Spanish IV Honors
Physics Honors, Chemistry Honors

12th (this upcoming 2012-13 year):
AP Calc AB
AP Physics C Newtonian Mechanics
AP Physics C E/M (I know they're one class at most schools, but at my school, it is divided into 2 classes each one semester long, with N/M in the 1st sem and EM in the 2nd semester. Every year, About 70 kids take the former but only 20 take the latter).
AP Spanish
AP Comparative Government
Honors English 12

My grades and course rigor show clearly an upward trend, with all As in junior year, and many APs senior year.

SAT:2170 (I think this is my biggest weakness, but I took it 3 times already and this is my last and best one).
730 Math 740 CR 700 WR
Superscore 2190
SAT IIs
800 US History
760 Physics
760 Math II

ECs:
World Affairs Club since 10th grade (We gather to debate current events, and we organize Model UN and Model Congress every year), Physics Club, Scholar's Bowl
Worked at Genuardi's since summer after sophomore year.

Awards:
Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology

How good of a shot do I have do I have? Clearly, I'm defintely not the best, at least in terms of test scores amongst the Asians, but my improvement in grades and course rigor is one strength that I hope will carry me far. Please reply. Thanks!

You will be an enigma wrapped in mystery. You are neither too good nor too bad. You are really in that twilight zone. Honestly somebody from IVYs would like you but given the reality I think your State Flagship is your best choice. Having said that Rice, Vanderbilt, Northwestern and WUSTL are good choices and you will be happy there.

Just wondering, does applying ED help my chances positively and if so by how much?

I’d say it’s a plausible option.

Applying ED always helps. For example, at Princeton, the normal admissions rate is 8 or 9%. For EA, it’s around 20%, so EA or ED can always give you a boost! I’d say you should give UPenn a shot. My advice is to make sure you have tons of extra curriculars that focus on your chosen major. This will show UPenn that you’re really passionate about your chosen field of study. If you do that and write well-written, eloquent essays, I think you could make it! Just use your essays and EC’s to stand out from the crowd.

Could you chance me for Princeton? Thanks and good luck!

I think Penn is a good reach in terms of your objective data. Your sat score is average and your sat ii’s are amazing. For comparison… i got off the waitlist with a 2200 sat and sat ii scores of 540, 640 and 690 and I’m asian too!

Just make sure you work really hard on the essays to stand out!

Good luck =D

Very Very low chance. Class rank is not competitive and ECs are about average.
