Yeah, I wonder how hard the essay is, but the CR + M sections are more important, thankfully.

I’m not sure, I don’t have problems with essays, but only having 25 minutes is intimidating!

Yeah, I should probably be afraid. When the teacher says “bring a first draft” I usually get to my third draft by then…

What percentage of the writing section is the essay? If you know.

I’m not sure, I remember reading it somewhere, maybe 40 to 60%. I’ll have to look that up.

It’s 30% of our score.

Thanks, by the way.

Basically, but I have been reading on this site that as long as you fill up the space they give you, you have a better chance of doing well. (As long as you stay on topic though)

That sounds doable. I feel kind of sorry for all the SAT essay readers out there, though…

I agree, but they only spend one minute reading each essay.

I know, so I think that as long as we talk about the subject and fill up the whole space, we will be ok. I need to work on writing that fast though, I’m used to having a whole period to write an essay.

Do you ever have to take notes? That might help your writing speed. I write pretty fast generally though, so that probably isn’t my biggest concern… although, staying on topic might be. I have a couple of digressions that I edit out later, usually.

I hope I don’t have to take the SAT more than once.

No, but I think it helps to brainstorm the first few minutes. I should try that, thanks! I’m taking AP language this year so that should help me with my writing and speed(since we will have to do several class essays). Same, what are you going to try to get?

I’m going to try to get 2250+, which would mean at least 750 in each section. However, I don’t think I would retake it unless I got lower than 2100. what about you?

Oddly, the exact same! I am going to try to aim high, but as long as I get over a 2100, I am content with that score.

That’s great. I think those are the general numbers that are good milestones. :')
I’m hoping that I do get over 750 in math, though. I’ll be taking IB Math SL when I take the SAT, so I’m hoping that since I’ll have to test IB in math, that we’ll have done some review and that comparatively the math section on the SAT will be a piece of cake.

From what I’ve heard, the match section goes up to Algebra 2, so I think we will be ok:) Regardless, math is not my favorite subject so I will probably want to review. I’m not too familiar with the IB program, is that similar to AP classes?

I just finished Algebra II this year, so I’m hoping I’ll do better on the PSAT. I should try to get in some review, but I don’t want to start right now because I’ll forget by the time I take it. The IB program is kind of like AP, but it dictates what classes you have to take, if you go full IB (diploma). You can just pick-and-choose to take a couple of IB classes, which is called certificate.

That’s true, I’m having trouble deciding when I should really start to review. I don’t want to forget anything! I understand, my school doesn’t offer that:( My school is different, we weigh honors classes as well.
