I'm taking AP US History and I currently have an 86.1%. I need to get 90% to get an A. The semester ends this Thursday when I take my final exams.

I figured out that if I ace the 66-question final which counts for 20% of my grade will end up with an 89.6%. If I get two questions wrong (like I did on the midterm), I'll get a 88.8%. Since I only take four 90-minute classes per semester, this will bring down my GPA from a 3.88 to a 3.83 unweighted.

Unfortunately, there have been many assignments from months ago that have not been put in the gradebook. I'm sure that if they were graded I would have an A.

I want to talk to my teacher about this but I don't want to sound rude. I'm really mad because I have spent hours working on those FBQs and projects from months ago. I've already had a conversation with him a few months ago about another issue that didn't go too well. He has said that he would round up our grades if we get a 89.5% but one question wrong on the final won't get me there.

Surely this is a problem for other students too?
I don’t see why it would be rude to ask when these assignments are going to be put in the grade book.

Always speak in private. Politely, ask what happened to the grades and be prepared to present a copy. Hopefully, she will accept it for enough credit to get you over the hump. If not ask for extra credit assignments. GL

“Hey Ms.________, there are a few assignments that haven’t been put in the gradebook yet, and I was wondering when you were going to do that?”

Dr. Poopypants,

I looked at my grade book and noticed that it’s missing some FBQs and projects. Could you look into that and see if you’ve graded them and just not recorded the grades yet? Or if you haven’t, do you know when I can expect to receive grades? I’d really appreciate it if I could know as soon as possible so I can see what my strengths and weaknesses have been as I prepare for the final exam.

Thanks,
ironcardinal

as long as you talk to your teacher calmly, I don’t think it would be rude at all to mention this. it’s his responisibility to put the grades in
