Hi there,
I took my first test in February of my junior year. I ended with a composite of 25 and sections scores of 32E 22M 23R 22S with a writing of 10. I took it again in April with my school and got a composite of 27 and section scores of 29E (yikes!) 26M 26R 25S. I didn’t study or do anything in between these two tests. However, I did study somewhat in preparing for the first test. I’m looking at the July test and I want to know what I can do to get my score up to 33+. Thanks!
Hire Mark Riddell to take it for you. Oh wait…
Ummm…prep for the test?
Give yourself 8-10 weeks for weekly prep. If you can afford it, hire a weekly tutor and take lots of practice exams. Treat this like one of your HS classes and put the effort in. With prep you should be able to raise your score to the low 30’s.
One shouldn’t take the tests “cold” sine large jumps in scores can flag a review and a possible score cancellation if they get suspicious (reasonable or not).
typo above- should say “since” large jumps… can flag a review.
Nothing beats good old fashioned elbow grease and studying. Take a practice sections, then see what you missed. If you aren’t sure why you missed something, don’t just skip it - get a teacher or friend who is stronger in the subject to help you understand. My kids made flash cards of the problems or concepts they needed to learn and reviewed them before each practice test and the real thing. It will take s considerable amount of studying for a 6 point jump, but you can very likely gain at least a few points.
