How can I get out of the NYU Liberal Studies Program and into Gallatin/CAS?

Hi everyone,

I found out yesterday that I was accepted to NYU's Liberal Studies program but rejected from CAS. I'm wondering what I can do to get myself out of the Liberal Studies program and into CAS. From what I've read, the Liberal Studies program is a transitional two years of study that is more "hand-holding" and more guidance. I don't feel I need that and would be better suited for CAS or Gallatin. I originally applied to CAS as a Journalism major, but realized that creating my own Creative Writing major in Gallatin would be better suited for me. How can I convince the admissions counselors to let me go to Gallatin or CAS?

Here are my schools and stats:

School Type: Upstate NJ, suburban, competitive
Class Rank: top 10%
SAT: 2070 (650 M, 660 CR, 760 W)
ACT: 31 (26 Science, 27 Math, 35 English, 34 Reading)

Accepted Schools:
Villanova University
Indiana University at Bloomington (merit scholarship candidate)
TCNJ ($5,000 per year)
Fordham ($12,000 per year)
Tulane ($7,500 per year)
Rutgers University
Deferred at Michigan
Rejected from Northwestern ED

Thanks!

what is your UW GPA?

Ill tell you right now you are lucky to have gotten into LSP!

If I got offered LSP I would have taken it in a heartbeat, you still get your degree in 4 years but for the first 2 years you take more Liberal Arts/Core classes and for the last two you only take classes for your major. I had similar stats to yours except 30 points lower on the SAT and I was in the top 25% of my class and was straight rejected from CAS but put into NYU -Poly :frowning: I also got accepted to Villanova, Fordham, Rutgers and am also from NJ…

My UW GPA is probably about a 3.6.

Yikes! CAS admission is definitely tough. Congrats on RU, FU, and Villanova, though…they’re all great schools!

Im guessing they had another record number of applicants. CAS is going to be as selective as Stern soon…

and congrats to you too! Im leaning heavily towards Nova atm
