LSP --> Gallatin internal transfer?

I'm currently an LSP freshman. Originally, I applied to CAS, but now I want to be in Gallatin, which is why I'm trying to internally transfer for Fall '11.

First semester grades were 3 B+s and 1 A- (all were LSP classes, 18 total credits, Writing 1/SF 1/CF 1/LSP Science).

I have a job as a tutor, I intern, and I am an active member of 3 clubs. I think my extracurriculars are pretty good, but my GPA is about a 3.4 (?) I think, so I'm worried that's a little low.

In Gallatin, I want my concentration to be a combination of English/politics/economics.

The internal transfer application is incredibly short (only 3 questions, no essay), so I'm assuming acceptance decisions are based mostly on first semester classes/grades.

But I just can't seem to find anywhere stats about internal transfer to Gallatin. Has anyone done it before? Is it relatively easy, hard, etc.? Do Gallatin students know any fellow classmates who internally transferred?

I know you can only apply for internal transfer at NYU once every academic year, so I REALLY want to get into Gallatin this year, rather than re-applying next year.

I don’t know if this is any consolation, but I’ve heard somewhere that Gallatin accepts large numbers of transfers because of the appeal of an Individualized Major. Being LSP probably helps your chances a good bit more since Gallatin has a liberal arts core.

It doesn’t hurt to try, you’ll get into CAS and will get to minor or double major anyway. Good luck.
