This is a general profile of myself, maybe I can add some other things. I know how poor my ECs are, I guess I just have to impress the colleges with great admission essays which can show much of my passion.
Im now trying to decide on colleges. I get really nervous about this. Honestly, it really challenged just to send this profile up here but I need some advices on my decisions, just anything you want to tell would be great, just where do you think I can be up to? Plus I really need financial aid how can I impress the colleges with what I have?
Thank you very much

keep some room for safeties and go for all coz all are really good ones...btw...is there any kind of limitation in your college number...i mean what is the maximum number of colleges u can apply?

well..the more the number of colleges....more likely that u will end up getting into one...just simple probability my friend...just chances....why would u bring down your chances?

hey...that's rubbish...no one cares if u apply to 100 other colleges...they are only concerned about you...if u are good enuf...they will take u....if not...they will reject you

Hey...wats goin on....wat is this.....15 colleges...!!!!!!!
I know its ''simple probabilty'' but u are ignorin other things too...applyin to tooo many colleges will probably irk ur cousellor...in addition to that.....u will hav 2 write soooooo many essays........(sheesh)...if applyin through commonapp,u will hav to work more due to the supplements..(I was shocked to see so many things in a single supplement!!!!!!!)....and u know u cant work this much!(atleast I cant)..so many essays are bound to make u tedium...and u cant write a good essay if u are so much tired!!!! just limit urself and work on ur safeties!!

I don't have a cousellor..this is all by myself
I guess you are right, i sure can't work that much...but it's so hard to give up the good ones..

yes, i do have to, and i planned to apply online( just for the application forms and essays), and the recommendations and other things by mails
btw, why do you ask this?

I don't know about safeties in the US, but since you're chinese you might want to look at some unis in HK, like HKU or HKUST. They have a good international reputation and it might be easier for you to fit in there.

Isaac is right, applying to 15 colleges can be counterproductive since it is very difficult to put in the right amount of work into each application when there are so many. Better to narrow your list down so that you can showcase yourself best on each application (even if it's only 6) rather than do a shoddy job on 20 others.

I suspect that your SAT results could be the determining factor; it's otherwise hard to evaluate overseas students. LACs are more about fit than large universities. Do you have an idea what you want to study, and what you want to do after BA/BS? Your competition is tough; there are many top Chinese students applying for financial aid at LACs.

drsuyi: Well,thats a good field...(atleast for me!):)...
there is basically NO safety for international student applying for fin.aid......if u can really afford all then we can talk about many safeties!
