How can I improve my chances at NU?

I'm going into senior year so consider the time restraint.

This summer (or what's left of it/30 days) I'm improving my ACT score and adding one more AP to my 4 that I am taking next year. I am also volunteering at the hospital (I'm dedicated to it for 4 years now).

What else?

No real impressive EC's...
):

Touring this Friday there!(:

If you’re looking for a chance thread, you should post a bit more information (#'s, what you’re interested in, etc.)
And what you may not think is impressive may be something important, you never know :)

Maybe you can not be on CC, and spend more time improving your ACT and working on your essay

Kathy

At this stage, there are only a limited number of things you can do.

Improve your ACT/SAT (which you’re trying to do)

Take a rigorous schedule Senior year (which you’re trying to do)

Get excellent grades first semester senior year (can factor into decision process except for schools you apply to early).

Get excellent teacher/guidance counselor recommendations (you’re trying to do this anyway.

Write an excellent application – especially excellent essays (This is the biggest factor that’s really in your control) and

Show demonstrated interest in the schools – visits, college fairs, presentations if they come to your area, attending alumni interviews, etc.

Other than that, your credentials are pretty much set by the time senior year rolls around.

halfsie94 - I wasn’t looking for a chance thread. I know my chances - not great.
SeattleBulldog - Uh… Am I supposed to be glued to my ACT book for 4 weeks? LOL deff not…
zephyr15 - Thank you!

Is there anything as far as ECs I can do? Its hard to get leadership at this point so anything else? I will try to get leadership in a few clubs if at all possible.

Hi Kathy:

At this stage, either you’re in line to become a leader (based on years of participation), or you’re not. Not too much you can do about it.

Hm well considering I’ve been in these clubs since freshman year that’s not how it works.

Kathy, leadership in clubs doesn’t hurt, obviously. Most applicants show leadership in something. That being said, I don’t how much club leadership helps.

At best, you take something that might be a small negative and turn it into a neutral.

I guess, Go for it, if you have the time.
