Ohhh man. So I tried, today, to test out of the Blue Book...officially, that kind of thing. Well, I quit after two hours because my brain was screaming...and I couldn't concentrate properly. It's not as if I don't know the answers, my brain just stops working. Plus, my timer stopped working, nobody was around to help me with it, I couldn't find a good pencil, that kind of thing...
This is a testing stamina problem. How can I assuage it? Tips?

hmm im no expert but practice makes perfect! if you cant do it after 2 hrs then push your self to finish one more section--- then take a break. and keep doing that until you can finally take the whole test.

Grow a pair. :D

No, but really, just practice and you'll be fine.

Bring lotsa snacks and caffeine :-).

May I suggest looking into the ACTs? I took both, and this is why I suggest it:

I find the SATs a lot more tiring than the ACTs because you're constantly switching between subjects every 20 minutes. The ACTs have you do each subject once and then stop. If you have a capability for a longer attention span, it may tire you out less.

Just a thought.

NO caffeine. that is the worst thing you can do.

Yeah, you'll just get restless and lose concentration.

im gonna try caffine in the jan. test. idk y but when i drink coffee, i do better in school, so maybe itll help in the SAT.

I am used to drink about 2 L coka-cola per day so i don`t think a small bottle of 0.5 L during the exam can hurt me x.o.x.o

2L a day? Props to you! Coca-cola rocks :D

Well almost everyday my mum buys a 2 L coke bottle for lunch and she doesnt drink much at all,my sister hates coke,my father works abroad, pretty much i drink 4/5 of the bottle :D
THe perfect combinations - soccer game (Man united plays) ,popcorns ,crisps and a 2 L bottle coke :D or Pepsi doesnt matter :D

I found that it was easier to focus on the real thing because it actually mattered, never made it through a whole practice test but had no issues on the real thing. Otherwise, eat a good breakfast and try to eliminate all distractions/practice ignoring them.

I treat practice tests like the real deal, so my performance is usually quite reflective.

that much coca cola is soo bad for your teeth :P

^ this is true.

i don't even drink soda =D

water ftw

The SAT was designed so that the normal person would be able to avoid test fatigue... So if you are having trouble, that's definitely a problem. I suggest that when you do homework, turn off the music, turn off your cell phone, turn off anything that will be a distraction. Then, focus on your homework, and try to do as much of it as you can in one sitting. You need to get used to having total concentration on one task.

like everyone said, practice
also maybe for your math sections you might wanna start on the hard and go towards the easy so that you're not freaked out for the next section :)

coffee, definitely

Whether you take some caffeine or not, don't mess too much with your regular routine.

That is, don't start drinking coffee the day of the test. Similarly, don't suddenly stop.
