Hi, I am going to be a full time student at my local community college this summer. I am graduating from high school this spring and I am looking forward to community college, but I was wondering how I can get into top ranked colleges and how I can maximize my chances as much as possible. Let me begin by saying that I had a rough experience in high school which led to transferring into an accredited alternative high school. My grades are not terrible overall but my school did not offer Advanced Placement courses nor honors courses. It was just to help students complete high school. I took some community college courses last year and this year but I was a concurrent student at the time and so far I have a 4.0 GPA. I am going to be a full time college student this summer and I will be taking the SAT’s this fall. I would love to transfer to liberal arts colleges such as Williams, Vassar, Wesleyan, Carleton, Oberlin, etc. I know that these are extremely hard to get into but I would regret not trying. I understand that I need a high GPA and high SAT scores to be competitive in the admissions process. I was wondering what else would help me stand out and look competitive? Also I joined my local college’s scholars program which will give me a boost.
