Hello, i am an international student from india with an ambition to study in the ivy league or other prestigious universities like Stanford, MIT, UCs but the problem is they are just way too expensive and even more expensive when the currency exchange is taken in account. So my question was even if i get in universities like HYP, MIT, stanford, UC berkeley, UCLA, and other top universities like Cornell and Dartmouth would they provide me with AID? If then what is the procedure?
The first place to look for this information is the financial aid section of each school’s website. Have you done that?
As an International applicant, do not expect any financial aid from UCLA and UCB.
All UC’s give need-based aid to eligible California residents. There is little merit aid in the form of Regents scholarships. The merit aid is given to the top 1-2% of applicants and the amounts range from $2000/year for UCLA to $2500 for UCB.
As an International applicant expect to full pay for these schools which is around $65K/year currently.
You need to look on every single website for these schools.
- Some meet full need for international students the same as for everyone else.
- Some have limited funds for international students.
- Some are heed aware for admissions which means your ability to pay will be considered when your admissions application is reviewed.
- Some colleges don’t give a dime of aid to international students...no need based aid, no merit aid.
I agree with @Gumbymom . Plan to pay the full cost of attendance at any UC.
The other schools you have listed…you have about a 5% chance if being admitted. That means that 95% of students from your region get rejected from these colleges.
You need a plan B also. You need some affordable college option in India, in case you are in the 95% of those not accepted.
Now…how do you apply for aid? Look on the college websites for international student financial aid. There will be a list of the required submissions and the DEADLINES for those. Do not miss those deadlines. In fact, apply early. The schools you have listed (not the UCs) all require the CSS Profile. You will need to pay to submit that. You will also need to provide every single bit of information the school asks for. If you don’t do all the submissions, your application won’t be considered at all.
It also sounds like you are seeking prestige. If you have significant financial constraints, you might want to look beyond prestige.
