I love movies. The Oscars were exciting this year! (as opposed to the same movie winning 11 times, lol)

I don't really know what to say. What was your opinion about the Academy Awards this year?

bleh...does anyone even watch them? i saw two mins of it w/ beyonce singing...i didnt like her dress it made her hips look HUGE

I was kind of disappointed with Chris Rock. He was really funny at the beginning, and after that he was very passive. Next year they should get Robin Williams or Jim Carrey to do it, or both, or they could just go back to the super reliable Billy Crystal or Steve Martin.

I think the Academy did a good job picking the right movies. They were pretty much spot on for who deserved it. I haven't seen Ray, but I was hoping Leonardo DiCaprio would walk away with it. He was just outstanding. But Jamie Foxx was supposed to be amazing, and his speech was definitely great, so good for him. I thought Scorsese would get the Oscar, since he's been snubbed so many times, but you can't go wrong with Clint. Glad to see Cate Blanchett win, and Morgan Freeman. Man, that was overdue. So good Oscars all-around, but not as much comedy as I would have hoped. And about Beyonce, she's a fantastic singer. Wow. No wonder Britney Spears is a has-been.

i enjoyed the show a lot actually :)! I'm so glad that hilary swank won for million dollar baby (ahh she's so freakin talented!) --I think Clint Eastwood is great and deserves all the praise he gets. I really wanted Leo to win for best actor, but I was expecting Jamie Foxx. (he's not even alive anymore yet Ray Charles won almost all the Grammies and quite a few Oscars in his name)

I love Beyonce, but it would have been nice if some other artists got the chance to sing LoL, but hey, maybe nobody wanted anyone else, but her.

Plus: everyone looked stunningly elegant and awesome esp. Johnny Depp, Leonardo di Caprio, Emmy Rossum, Natalie Portman, Penelope Cruz, Gwyneth Paltrow, Salma Hayek, Hilary Swank, Kate Winslet, and the actress from Maria full of Grace.

I <3 the Oscars!

I DVRed it this year and started watching at like 8:30 so I could fast forward through all the boring awards and commercials. I still caught up by "Best Original Screenplay" though.

Million Dollar Baby was a good movie, but it sent an awful message. I bawled for like a half hour. I think Jamie Foxx did deserve the best actor, he was great as Ray. And I love hearing that actors actually do work for their roles, like Jamie Foxx walked around L.A. blind for two weeks and Hilary Swank pretended to be a guy for a month when she did "Boy's Don't Cry." That just makes it a LITTLE more tolerable that they make over $5 million for, you know, six months of work.

I really liked Sideways, I wish it would have won more. Paul Giamatti should have been nominated for best actor instead of Johnny Depp, gross. If Virginia Madsen and that Thomas Hayden Church guy were, he definitely deserved it. But overall I'm pleased with the outcome. I really didn't like the Aviator, and Ray felt kind of like a biopic they do for two weeks on Sundays on ABC. But it was still all right. I think Eternal Sunshine should have gotten a best picture nomination over Ray or Finding Neverland. And I'm happy the Incredibles won Best Animated Feature :)

There was this interesting discussion about milliondollar baby in Economist of this month. Check the site guys, you all will like it!

is it possible to watch them without falling asleep past the first hour?

1000 channels, and that 1 channel we have to buy. So I couldn't watch it. ;(
Instead I saw the highlights online & on a news program. Blah.

I love movies and enjoyed the Oscars. The only category that disapointed me was Best Actor. I really wanted Eastwood to win. Both he and Jamie Foxx were equally deserving, but Eastwood does not have many years left.

As for Leo, he still needs to mature a little. He is talented, but he does not yet have the screen presence.

I was disappointed that Hotel Rawanda didn't win anything. I think it was this year's most important movie.

^ i agree, I was disappointed that HOtel Rwanda was lost among the big hoopla over The Aviator and Million Dollar baby and Ray. I was rooting for Don Cheadel for Best Actor, everyone made this big deal over Jamie Foxx being black and nominated for the Oscar, but no one seemed to remember Don Cheadle, same thing at the Golden Globes. I saw Ray and I do agree Foxx did a fantastic job but i feel had he not been a comedic actor prior to this no one would hyped it up as much.

Halfway through Beyonce's rendition of the song from Phantom of the Opera, I wanted to screen GOOD GOD SOMEONE KICK BEYONCE OFF THE STAGE. Her singing was terrible and the strange hand motions...... please stop.

Other than that, I liked last night's Oscars. Could've been more excitement, more tears....... it was, after all, THE Oscars.

The Oscars are all about politics anyway.

Let's start:

Why did Beyonce have to sing so much?

Like the only song she didn't sing: Al Otro Lado Del Rio with Antonio Banderas and Carlos Santana, it was amazing. I'm SO glad it won.

Best Director: I love Eastwood but will the Academy ever stop being so mean to Scorcese? He should definetely get a lifetime acheivement later on.

Best Movie: Million Dollar Baby - deserved

Best Actor: Foxx only won as a tribute to Ray Charles. Don Cheadle was SO amazing in Hotel Rwanda, he almost drove me to tears - and Russians never cry - he deserved it so much more.

The dresses seemed boring and conservative this year.

i loved the oscars! orlando was looking gorgeous as usual. Hilary Swank looked so good in her dress. I also loved Halle Berry's. Chris Rock was cool too. Beyonce was talented as usual, even though the songs were boring.

I love how Beyonce was standing in the middle of the Ameircan Boys Choir and doing little hand motions and head motions from her Baby Boy music video. My friend's native language is French and she couldn't even figure out most of what Beyonce was singing, she picked up 'nuit' but it was more like 'nuuuueeeeeettttttttttttt'. I'm sorry I just can't stand her.
Chris Rock was okay, his joke about Bush and Gap and Banana Republic would have been really funny except Gap and BR are divisions of the same company. hmmm, unless he was trying to go for an extra deep metaphor or something.

I don't know, I hear a lot of people saying Foxx wasn't deserving of the Oscar, but I felt he was more than deserving. He did an amazing job, and that was an INCREDIBLY difficult role to fill...at points I forgot it was foxx when I was watching the movie, he did it so convincingly. I don't know, but I was happy when I saw he won...

What is the point of the Oscars? To me it is just opinions of other people that you probably don't agree with. It's also celebrities wearing million-dollar dresses that you wish you could buy. To me, there's no point.
