What did you think about The Butler?

Even when I just saw the poster, I was really interested in seeing this movie. But with junior year, I've been busy, and prioritizing clubs and school over my own leisure. But my fabulous history teacher assigned the movie as extra credit and I watched it and whoa.....IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. I mean the music, and the acting, and everything was just incredible. My friend cried, but for me, it was mostly just breathtaking, especially the end when everything came full circle. It was just so amazing. The theatre was only a quarter full, but I've never heard such loud applause. :') What did you guys think of it? BTW, I recommend it to everyone!!

It was moving! I must admit it was hard to hold back the tears. Forest Whitaker should be up for an Oscar.

Terrific movie! I’d like to see FW win the Oscar. Even Oprah showed some pretty good acting chops. On a side note, any kid on CC that is claiming discrimination because of college admissions policy should go see the movie and learn what real discrimination is all about.

“Real discrimination.” I love that, sosomenza.

Historically inaccurate details presented as facts betray partisan favoritism. There’s a reason they didn’t call it a “documentary.”

@tomatox I’m not sure what you’re getting at here…are you saying that the story displayed segregation too negatively? Or are you saying that the movie was too liberally biased and displayed Reagan in a bad light? Obviously a movie about civil rights would have some sort of liberal bias.

I haven’t seen the movie yet, just can’t find the time. I guess I’ll have to wait for redbox. Very much excited for it though.

Love that!
