Wow, almost everyone who has posted in this thread is a girl. Coincidence? I think not. :p I think girls have it easier when developing relationships with teachers, at least at my school.

Yeah, that's probably true at my school too.

I have the cell phone numbers of a few teachers due to traveling on robotics trips or other clubs/activities, but otherwise I don't think I'd call any of them to say "hey, what's up". On the other hand, there is one teacher that's really cool, has a Facebook, and regularly talks to a few of us through IM, blogs, or email. He's not the weird I-want-to-be-the-cool-teacher type though. I have emailed a few other teachers over the summer to share stories and experiences and I'm still in touch with my Kindergarten teacher that way.

I have yet to become comfortable enough with a teacher to talk about my personal life in-depth though. There are a couple of teachers that I'm comfortable with enough to make fun of and they don't get offended, or they just fire one right back at me.

I think I generally connect well with most teachers. I have a couple cell phone numbers, but it's not as though we go out for breakfast on Sunday mornings or anything.

I've never talked about guys with any of the teachers I'm close to. They know a lot about me though, regardless of that.

I find the debate phone number really funny though, because our coach, although she is an amazing coach, doesn't even go to our team fundraisers or pre-tournament breakfasts.

I have one teacher that I am very close to. I have her address, home phone and cell number. Generally I don't really call her when I have issues, but if I had a question on an assignment I know that I could call her. Likewise, we've spoken on the phone multiple times and she has my phone number (house and cell) and knows where I live. She even offered to drive me 5 hours to go to a leadership conference if my mom couldn't drive me. She's the coach of one of my clubs though, so I've been through a lot with her, including 10+ bus trips as well as plane rides and so forth. I've probably eaten at least 15 meals with her out at places (generally with other students too). I've talked to her about personal stuff and so forth, but I still feel like that should be saved for my friends. Hah, I've even gotten a Christmas gift from her (:

That being said, I also have the phone numbers (cell and house) of several other teachers/coaches, but I don't call them, I think it's a little strange.

I will admit to calling my band director, but it was involving a pressing issue with band that I had to get resolved. (He happens to be one of the teachers I have that will give you their home numbers at the beginning of the year, and we all got his cell during band tour as a just in case you got lost in San Fransisco.) I don't have a close relationship with him though. He kind of creaps me out at moments...lol. :)

^Ha, I have some really good friends in our school's band, and one of them has both the regular band director's and pep band director's cell phone numbers, and actually calls them. Creeps me out a little. And one time, after a football game, I was with those people and they decided to get the band director's address from information so they could stalk him. It was weird.

Oh, yep. That's actually normal in most bands from what I've heard. :)
If you want some creepy creepy band stories the forum on Tales From Band Camp has some interesting band stories. :)

Most band kids are close with their director. THe one at my school is just well...uh odd.

Yeah, I've gathered that. It seems like there are times when our band is just one big party, in which the directors participate

OUr director doesn't like to participate. :)

One of my friends who is a percussionist had to speak in a public gathering the other day. He got up there and looked down at his tie which had percussion instruments on it, and said "I'm sorry to everyone for wearing this tie. I've been informed that from a distance it looks like beer bottles and wine glasses." Afterwards I went up to him, "Persussion and achohol...is there much of a difference?"

Now back on topic. :)

I talk to my Spanish teacher some, but I don't have her number. ;)

I know some kids in my school who had their spanish teachers number and they pranked texted him and im not sure what they said, but it got them ISS for 2 days

Oh wow...
We were going to prank txt our foreign lang. teacher at my school, but someone asked about his texting plan (very random class) and he has to pay an arm and a leg for each one recieved so we all felt guilty and decided not too...

My AP Human Geography teacher was the best teacher I've ever had (I even have her number).

My Math teacher is also pretty cool, though he's more reserved.

I have two of my teachers on Facebook. Beat that.

Ya. I doubt even my "cooler" (for lack of better word) don't have facebook/myspace/etc.

a lot of the ap teachers actually gave us their phone numbers and address and stuff in the syllabi at the beginning of the year. i have one teacher that i'm really close with. i've actually visited her house a few times over the summer. and when she was gone on vacation, she told me to water her plants haha...

i've been to quite a few of my teachers' houses for a class dinner or whatever, and our entire prom group (prob 10 or 12 kids) actually visited our biology teachers' house on the way to prom haha...he loved it.

and as far as unfair advantages are concerned, my first non-A was actually in the teacher's close whom i'm the closest with haha...c'est la vie.

also, i am friends with 5 of my past teachers on facebook :D

I have an English teachers cell number (he's my debate coach), and my chemistry teachers.

I don't think having a number is corssing the line, but it is unusual and suggets that you need to communicate more with certain teachers than others.
