How closely did your PSAT score match your SAT score?

Holy crap, that’s a tough curve.

I know the data shows that many people do better on the SAT than they did on the PSAT. I’m just not sure why

I was looking over the curves for both the PSAT and the SAT. Is the PSAT curve that much harsher so that it balances out the larger volume of questions on the SAT? I didn’t get that impression when looking at it.

Soph PSAT - 215
Junior PSAT - 229
Jan SAT - 2350

My daughter’s PSAT scored mirrored her SAT score - but the components were off. She did much (and I mean much) better on the math PSAT than the SAT but scored higher on the Verbal and Written SAT than the PSAT.

Soph PSAT - 231
Junior PSAT - 232
Junior SAT - 2370

Soph PSAT - 211
Junior PSAT - 220
Junior SAT (no studying - and I mean literally none) - 2300.

there is no way that 3 questions can bring you down to 2290…it is not statistically possible for them to make the curve that harsh. they make each test to conform to a bell curve which tapers off at the extremes and has the greatest area at the average score. there is no way that the test was so easy so that 3 questions would bring you down to 2290.

210 PSAT 2310 SAT…didnt send the sat though

^…? and might I ask why?

36 ACT, didnt want confusion

^ lol gotcha

Wow Ethiopian that was a good one. :D

Ha…my PSAT and SAT hardly matched at all.

Junior year PSAT: CR- 67, M- 80, W- 72 = 219 (Not 100% sure of CR and W scores, but 219 was the composite)
Junior year SAT, Spring (also didn’t study): CR= 800, M= 690 (afjdsfjskruw), W=770; 2260 total

Yeah…composite-wise, not a HUGE difference. Fluctuating around 50-100 points is pretty normal. The scores did not match up at all, section-to-section, however.

PSAT: 225 (70 CR, 75 M, 80 W)
SAT: 2240 (730 CR, 720 M, 790)

Pretty close, I would say.

Sophomore PSAT: 207
Junior PSAT: 233
Junior SAT (January '10): 2390

Junior PSAT and SAT were pretty close, and I did relatively little review in between the two, so I would say it’s a good indicator

10th PSAT 187
11th PSAT 195
10/2009 SAT 2080
3/2010 SAT feeling good, but we’ll see

10th grade PSAT: 213…10th grade SAT: 2130

11th grade PSAT: 220…11th grade (October) SAT: 2220

Sophomore PSAT: 185 … I did horrible on all sections here, 50s in writing low 70 for math and upper 60 for reading…

Junior PSAT: 215 I improved a bit on the math and CR, got 79 and 77 respectively, but tanked the writing, 59 -_-

Junior SAT: 2320, I took the January one and I got on a hella lucky streak for my writing. I got my 800 CR/M but then I would always expect to fail the writing section.

68 Raw score, but the 11 essay helped a lot. Should’ve studied more than the day before the test -__-. Oh well, I’m lazy so I’m happy with my score.

Your PSAT score will be similar to your SAT score until you buckle down and study hard for the SAT.

11th grade PSAT: 196

11th Grade SAT: 1940
