was your PSAT close to your SAT score?

My son just took his PSATs last weekend. I was curious if you did way better or worse on the real SAT. Do PSATs really give you a feel for how you might do on the real thing? Thanks.

227 PSAT 224 SAT. I took the SAT a month after the PSAT in junior year.

The PSAT is good for the basic knowledge of the test, but the essay and endurance factors are neglected--you'll need to get past those basic hurdles in order to really do well on the SAT.

Mine was not at all similar (202 PSAT, 229 SAT).

203 PSAT 225 SAT... so no, not really. :P

I got the exact same score on the PSAT and on the SAT. But that's because I didn't really study for it...

Not at all, PSAT junior year I got a 2130, and my SAT from junior year (from one sitting) is 2330.

On my tenth grade PSAT I got a 1780, and in eleventh grade I got an 1870.

But on the real SAT I got a 2000, so they were pretty different.

those aren't valid PSAT scores

somewhat. 11th grade psat- 190, may sat- 2060

Uh....NO!!! HaHa LOL...My d 11th grade PSAT was abysmal.....170....Her SAT score: 2100(1440M/CR)......Don't even go there......

bobmallet obviously everyone in this thread is assuming a post of say 201 = 2010 and vice versa

for me, 214 soph psat 222 junior psat
234 january SAT

it seems like everyone is doing better on the SAT 1s than the PSATs

It was primarily aimed at that poster, just in case he thought the PSAT was out of 2400 instead of 240.

229 and 2310 are pretty close. Although i got 2190 the first time, so i had to do something about that..

Oh God, a 2190 on the SAT I, that's terrible! Wow. Most people would love to get that score.

Bobmallet...are you really that nitpicky that you care that she added a "0" to her PSAT? Or are you just trying to be obnoxious? Beause it definitely can't be that you don't understand.

My PSAT - 2190 (or 219 for Bob there)
My SAT: 2280

I got a 236 on the PSAT, and a 2320 on the real deal (on a side note, I would've gotten a 2350+ but I got an 8/12 on the essay - I sort of, well, I wrote two paragraphs then drew a picture of one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles who had a bubble caption that said, "This essay does not make me wanna say 'Kowabunga.'")

lol. on PSATs 171(0) (fall sophomore year), 192(0) on PSATs (fall junior year), 1960 on SATs (spring junior year). Slow improvement, but improvement nonetheless. I'll see later if i did any better on the Oct. sats..

209 psat, 2070 sat (yay ACT!).

But yeah... really close (it was the essay that lowered my sat).

206 PSAT, 2130 SAT
CR was exactly the same; math went from 54 on PSAT to 640 on SAT (without any studying in between...??); writing was perfect on PSAT, 770 on SAT
