How colleges see the SAT essay

I fabricated some information in my last SAT essay. I'm not sure if it's really provable that its false or not. Is it common for colleges to read the SAT essay or do they mostly just look at the score?

you are allowed to make up information. the point of the essay is to demonstrate your reasoning skills, not your knowledge. colleges dont read your essays. they could care less what you wrote

except it was a personal story that was false. and also one of the schools im applying to uses the essay as a validity check.

I assume that such a policy is used to validate your college essay, because some students get others to write their college essays for them; so, by reading your essay, the admission committee will see if your writing ability is consistent. If your college essay will be written by you, I would not worry about the topics you wrote about on the SAT.

i dont agree with this policy, but i dont know much about it. i really doubt they will take your essay with sentimental value.

perhaps someone else knows what the deal is for sure and can weigh in on it.

you don’t have to write truthfully in your SAT essay. only well

above poster is correct. they simply want to make sure you didn’t plagiarise your admissions essays or get undue help.

That makes me feel a little bit better I suppose. The only other problem is that it ended up being an 8, albeit with a 76 MC for a 730 total. Maybe they will look down on it.
