Hey guys, I was just wondering if my 32 is competitive... I know it's not a bad score, but I get kind of discouraged looking at all the CC'ers with 35s! Ha anyways, I KNOW acceptance in based on more than just and ACT score, but I feel pretty good about my grades, schedule, activities, essays and recs. Well, I feel that those are good enough to be competitive... but how does a 32 compare for my top choices of Emory, Rice, Vandy, and Duke? Just curious.. Thanks!

Google each school’s name along with “2008” (not sure 2009 would be available, but you could try 2009 if you want) and “common data set” (without quotation marks). Scroll through each school’s data to see how your 32 compares with the middle 50% of scores at each school. Anything at or above the 75th percentile will likely put you amongst the strongest candidates provided all other stats (gpa, rigor, etc.) are solidly in the middle or above the middle 50%.

Of the two people I know with the exact score of 32, one got into UCD and one got into UC Berkeley. Both are California natives with very, very weak extracurriculars. The UCB girl was Top 10, the UCD guy was Top 10% (of 600 or so).
