Yes.
As per my research, absolutely
With respect to the title of the thread, by USNWR methodology, Vassar’s selectivity would be comparable to that of Carleton:
USNWR methodology is flawed. Although not a significant factor, at some LACs, 60% of the high schools don’t report class rank for incoming freshmen.
And unlike other LACs, Vassar’s admission rate varies greatly by gender. The admission rate for females is only 21%
Although also somewhat meaningless, if you were to calculate selectivity by only SAT scores…http://www.businessinsider.com/smartest-colleges-in-america-2015-9/#34-tie-grinnell-college-16…
Well, I’ve no particular allegiance to US News methodology, though an introduction of the publication’s assessments would seem to represent a reasonable starting point in terms of the title of the thread.
If you have an interest, the BI standardized-scoring analysis has been updated:

For an overview on gender imbalances in admissions, this WaPo article might be worth a read, should you not have seen it:
It should be noted that some top LACs don’t require SAT or ACT scores. That fact, too, can skew the rankings.
Vassar looks beyond ratings. People with perfect scores don’t necessarily get accepted. Vassar seems to attract independent thinkers.
I would say so.
D with a 36 ACT and solid grades was rejected by Vassar. That was a little surprising
^^
Would she have attended if accepted?
Agree with other posters here. Our kid got in to Vassar with (very) slightly worse credentials than yours, but killer essays that made for a compelling (and genuine) argument speaking to why he would be a good fit for Vassar in particular.
