For the 3 page perspective essay, I am thinking about writing 3 pages of consecutive sonnets about my writing/artistic passions. I've already written a draft and I feel like if it could work, then I could make it turn out really well. But do you think this is a stretch? I suppose I could always send it as additional information...

It’s your story to tell anyway you want to. No right or wrong as long as you stick within the word limit :-).

That’s true. :)

I am just wondering if it would be more or less effective than just writing out the essay.

I like the idea of the sonnets, it is unique, however does it really answer the prompt? Remember that in the world of applications, you want yours to stick out (positively) and this is something that they will remember you by. If you can do it well, I think “go for it”.

If you love writing, poetry, etc., and can write sonnets that tell a lot about you, then I think the format would be fantastic because you are not only telling something about yourself in your words, you are showing something about yourself in how you used them. I would just be careful not to let the focus of the essay be “Oh look I’m writing sonnets I’m SO poetic/artsy/unique!” Let it speak for itself.
