How critical are Mid Year Reports?

The title is self-explanatory.

Theoretically, If I had a mix of A’s and B’s my junior year, and had mostly B’s my senior year would that raise a flag?
I am applying to public and private schools. When would a mid year report cause admission officers to reject an applicant? Is it only in the cases where a person get’s C’s this happens or is it when it deviates alot?

Thanks

Basically, what would get a admission rescinded?

For schools that are still making decisions on you it is important for schools you have already been accepted you usually don’t have to worry about being rescinded unless you get lower than C’s but some top schools probably would object to C’s.

@acdchai what about to get accepted to a school?

Yes to get accepted it is important. Some rolling admissions schools even ask borderline people to send in senior grades before they will decide. I don’t know exactly how they interpret the grades like do they use a grade from half a year like they do the full year grades from previous years but for schools that are still deciding about you they want to see what you are doing senior year.

Think about it. Which classes are closer to college classes - Junior or senior year ones? The person they are admitting is your preset self, not your past self. They matter. A slight hiccup here and there isn’t likely to make a huge difference except at very selective schools, but a major drop could be a problem especially if you are on the cusp.

Relating to this–I got a C in physics first semester this year (i’m a senior). However, my teacher has seen how hard I work to understand the work he gives and how proactive I am in class (I work much harder than most people do in the class, and a lot of people are failing/have Ds in there right now or cheat), and he is writing a letter of recommendation for me in light of that. Do you think this will help with my midyear report? is this a good idea?

I think it sounds good assuming he will throw in lots of information relating to what good character and study habits you have and that you aren’t giving up even though it;'s a tough situation.
