How dangerous is Johns Hopkins area

I know the campus at Johns Hopkins is safe. But what about outside. People seem to be avoiding that issue because I don't think they want to tell me the trugth that it can be dangerous.

any thoughts?

Take a look at the thread Berurah started about Duke vs JHU. Many posts regarding JHU safety from knowledgeable parents there.

Thanks....i just started reading her thread. two unsolved murders at the upper class off campus housing. Hum.............

The Jan. 2005 murder of Linda Trinh has been solved and there is a suspect arrested and held without bond.

The other murder a year ago occurred in a frat house after a big party, and the house door was left unlocked. It is still unsolved.

I lived in Charles Village for 3 years while a JHU student and had no problems. There is crime in any city, and many colleges are in cities. One should always be alert and use common sense when in a city, and usually this will be sufficient to avoid problems.

You'll find a post about current security efforts from a JHU Security officer here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showpost.php?p=451284&postcount=75
