How did we miss this???

America's Elite Prep Schools - Forbes.com

i’m surprised a lot of top tier schools aren’t on that list

First of all I like the mentionings of St. Pauls. Second of all, I didn’t realize how big Westminster was. In atlanta it’s just another random private school. It’s beig and all, but never caught me as anything special.

I have read a very similar article by Forbes. I think they have a few, detailing the “prep school life/experience”. Though I do not avidly follow Forbes, this article may be worth reading.

@Hotchkiss: I found that funny, too. I did not read the whole article, but the only ones I saw (well “top tier”) were Milton, Exeter, SPS, Andover, and maybe a few others.

@micz: I learned a bit about many different schools, that until now were just “oh yeah”. Not as if they changed tiers or anything, just thought it was funny.

wow that was very interesting hey Peddie wasnt even mentioned in there =(

That’s how Forbes is, they get the best in area. Richest. Most elite. etc. Good or bad, don’t ask me.

They still should have mentioned peddie maybe one line or something =(

Though mentioned, Harvard-Westlake is a Day school. I’m not sure I saw any other “day” schools mentioned in the article. Harvard-Westlake was a Boarding school 35 some years ago when it was the Harvard Military Academy.
Wasn’t the founder of Forbes a Hotchkiss grad?:)

Harvard-Westlake, however, is one of the most prestigious schools in the nation. Forbes craves that.

Isn’t Peddie a tier two school?

what makes a school a tier 2? and what makes them a tier 1?

Lots of the schools are day. The Westminster Schools are right next to my house, they are day. And not really looked at as any super prestigious school in Atlanta…but I guess they are.

Yeah. Still great, tier two BS is like Tier 1 in the nation.

but it still feels like Peddie is not given enough attention

Well I mean Hotchkiss and Deerfield didn’t really get mentioned either.

@mpicz: Do they have good college matriculation. I noticed that the schools they had up there had really high HYPSM matriculations.

Westminster? Idk, but I mean it can’t be sooo amazing. Or I would be there and my parents would know how amazing it was lol. Doesn’t deserve national recognition

If I am correct about the college matriculation, I am not surprised that Hotchkiss is not as mentioned. I am, however, surprised Deerfield is not. SPS/DF/Milton/Andover/Exeter and I guess those Day schools have extremely impressive matriculation. While I am not sure about Hotchkiss, according to some services there matriculation to HYPSM is not on par with the above mentioned.

Edit@mpicz: Well then I am clueless.

I remember looking at Hotchkiss matriculation earlier on in the process before coming here. It wasn’t eye-opening…I think that’s why I eliminated it. But that was before I knew much…I just assumed it wasn’t as good as the other 4 I was applying to.
