my friend didn't finish her essay on the april test and she got a 10.

shoot me now?

so how did people get whatever they got on the last grid in...?

Just to confirm about the grid-in equilateral triangle question, I put 90. The two big triangles all had sides of 15 so 15x6=90. You had to split up the smallest triangle (10) into 5 and add them to the triangles that you knew were more than 10.

Did anyone get the grid in with the WXYZ? That was weird.

f(4.2-1.3)=f(3)=(3+3)(3-3)=0 there fore a=4.2, and the WXYZ i got 5940

Is it me or are there fewer people posting their thoughts on today's SAT? Or maybe fewer CC members took the SAT? This thread should've already been on the 9th page by now. Where is everybody?

WXYZ = 5940

You knew X was the highest number (because X= W + Y + Z), so just pick a relatively high number for its value (in this case, it just so happens to be 9- how convenient). Then you know that W is 1 higher than Y, and W - 5 = Z. So W must be 5, because it cannot be lower (or else Z would be negative), and it cannot be higher (or else W + Y would be greater than 9). So knowing W is 5, you then can get Z = 0 (W - 5), and Y = 4 (W - 1).

so...for that one sc problem...was it cheapened....affordable or transformed...viable?

There weren't a lot of kids at my testing center taking it...i read taht there are a lot more people taking the SAT I in November.

Transformed... viable. Cheapened doesn't fit because it's talking about the industry, not the products themselves.

ok well, darn, i missed an sc, does anyone know the answer to the writing multiple choice that dealt with heat lightning and thunder?

I believe I put No Error for that question, but I'm not sure about it. Something seemed off in that sentence.

yeah, i put the "at a distance" part, but now i'm pretty sure i'm wrong...

Do you all generally find it harder to concentrate in a real test taking room? And how do you keep your brain flowing during the actual test?

i'm quite sure i do better in the testing room where it matters rather than think of other random things when taking practice tests

For me, it depends on the section. In the reading and writing sections, I do better in the test room because I'm more focussed and can concentrate on the readings and such without my mind wandering. However, in the math sections, I tend to be too urgent and rush through the easy and medium problems, making some sort of unbelievably stupid error along the way. Fortunately, I already have an 800 in math, and I usually score 800s on the practice tests, but in the test room I usually get 1 or 2 easy-medium "trap" questions wrong.

For the city passage, what was the ans. to the last question?

What was the question?

My daughter came back and said it was much harder than the May test.

I took the May test this year. I don't think it was that hard but the math questions weren't as bad as last time's maybe because I have practiced more.

So I'm thinking the experimental ones were of course CR and Math. For Math, I think the experimental one wasn't that tough. It had a question about filling a tub and 2 hoses. The time to fill a tub with both was like 12 hrs.
