Official thread october sat 2013 test

Hi everyone this is a thread for people taking the October SAT in two weeks! :( Post progress, discussions..etc

I’m screwed with essay. Can’t write much because I currently write in print only. Now I’m deciding on whether I should start to learn cursive writing just for the essay section.

I’m screwed in everything except for essay and writin! (Sigh!)
HOW to improve in less than 2 weeks?!

I just got off a 2 month SAT hiatus 2 days ago and I just paid the late fee to take the October test.
Bout to go HAM

i’m starting to study today. already took the SAT back in May so I’m hoping for a few hundred point increase. :p

Beaten by Critical Reading here :sigh:
I am practically STUCK im the mid 500s.
Any tips?

I’m hovering around the 2050-2100 range right now. The one thing that I need to most improve on is critical reading. Other than that, I’m hovering around 800’s for writing and math.

eagle, me too! I’m stuck at 700 for CR and it just doesn’t budge no matter how many tests I’ve taken…sighh
Tips for CR would be http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1024138-how-i-got-800-sat-critical-reading-story-guide.html</a>
I’'ve done a little better after reading that guide but it’s still not making the necessary breakthrough to the high 700
As for essays, one trick is to make up your own story and author to save time and make sure you fill out EVERYLINE of the two pages. Longer essays= better scores. Doesn’t matter if it is total bs

Hyp im with you. 700 stuck in CR. that guide is a great help though, especially the part where it says there is no “sounds right” in the CR section - every right answer is supported by the text. once I realized that I scored significantly higher.

I have yet to make that break through…in like 9 days :((
I realize that every answer is in the passage but I get answers wrong because I comprehended in a different meaning. Also the tone questions are annoying. I can never sense a statement when it is “wry”

I got a 1900 on the May SAT; 630 Math/CR and 640 Writing /8 Essay.
I didn’t really study for that one, and I put in some more preparation for this upcoming SAT. I’d love to get a 2100, or at least have one section in the 700s. :stuck_out_tongue: any tips? i struggle a little with vocabulary and the harder math problems.

Can anyone predict what the heck the essay topic will be…just slightly nervous for essay otherwise probably can get at least a 2250

well, sassyginger…

The vocabulary: you have to study. There’s no other way.
Harder math problems: the only way is to think…that’s what the SAT is testing for. The problems are solvable

Do you think Essential 500 is good enough for the vocab?

yeah not much time left anyway lolz

when do you guys think we’ll be getting the scores back after the exam is taken? late october, early november?

late October…we can see them online on oct. 22, I think…

More precise, I think it’s October 24th.

These are my last 4 blue book practice test scores:

2150, 2080, 2200, 2120.

What am I likely to score on test day?

2100-2150???
