How did you send in your tax papers to UCLA?

i think it’s faster if you drive over there. you should go around noon, so you don’t run into traffic.

anybody able to track FA documents on FAO ??

Student Name: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Award Period: Academic Year 2009-2010
Status: Completed

FAFSA RECD FROM CENTRAL PROC Completed 4-17-2009

Thats all mine says… NOTHING else… what does it mean ?? I did file my tax return before filing FAFSA tho, so does that make the difference ??

^Looks like you’re good to go. Now all you have to do is sit back and get accepted/rejected the old fashioned way.

phattie, I don’t know the answers to your questions. If it says it’s completed then it is. I don’t even know why mine says incomplete, but it does? I made my corrections on Fafsa the day after I mailed in my tax returns and evidently, now I have to submit another copy to UCLA. I’m a worry wart like you, so just give them a call on Monday to see what’s going on.

Just relax and wait till decisions come out!! Don’t think too much abt the URSA stuff… >=]

Sorry yubo, I did not formally introduce myself. My name is Jen Worry-Wart. I stress about school and apparently, phattie’s last name is Worry-Wart too. =]

I think most of us came onto collegeconfidential to seek help and find out our statuses a-sap. We’ve all been waiting for more than five months to hear back from the schools. Thus, I think it’s safe to say that most of us are tired and solely just want answers.

Jennn… i posted this earlier on another thread, so i apologize to anybody who has already seen this… the reason why they are asking you for your tax returns is because you have already been accepted to UCLA but the F/A department is not allowed to disclose that to you yet. In addition, they are trying to put together your F/A package, however you have been randomly selected for a verification process. They usually will do that for independent students & occasionally dependent students. You can wait until the official word comes out but they like to get those forms in early because they are processing thousands of those packages. I suggest you taking a trip and hand delivering them if they are that large for a couple of reasons. Your parents want it highly confidential and you have no idea who is going to open the mail, that way if you deliver them you can give it directly to the F/A officer that is handling your F/A account. Also, if they have any questions about what is on the return, then you can answer the questions while you are there. Hope this helps =)

agree !!! we’re too close to stay calm !!!

I had to verify my info too for UCD and Columbia (some people just get selected for federal verification). I own a corporation and had to submit my personal tax return (1040) plus the corporation’s Schedule K. The 1040 should only be about 2 pages since it wraps up everything and Schedule K is like 4-5 pages…

i don’t think they need all the worksheets and alternate pages that itemize deductions and depreciable assests… i really dont’ think you need to fax 50 pages. that’s a bit overkill

luvtoolearn, thanks!

ben8jam, I don’t know what UCLA wants from me. I don’t want to mess up anything so I’m just going to package the entire 50 something pages I have and mail it off. If USC wanted every document, I’m assuming that UCLA might too.

I dunno if this applies to UCLA or not… but for UCSD, they only want the copy of the first two pages of ur tax papers and Schedule E

yubo, where does it say on UCSD? I’m logged into my TritonLink and it only says:

By May 1st, provide the UCSD Financial Aid Office with:
Additional information if requested later by UCSD.

P.S. I’m not interested in attending UCSD though?

^ not to sound like wheezy, but why don’t you just call UCLA and ask them specifically what they want, and what their fax number is? Seems silly to just guess.

And don’t drive all the way up there, I can guarantee that the FA office’s fax is perfectly fine. The person who retrieves the faxes is probably the exact same person who would sign for the FedEx or take the package from you by hand…

btw, congrats on being accepted. I think this pretty much proves the URSA=Acceptance thing. Why would the FA department ask an “unknown or denied” applicant to send in personal tax info. Doesn’t make any sense.

Hahah. Just to make UCLA re-think about accepting me and making myself sound like an idiot… I’m pretty much tax return illiterate? I’d rather just send them everything and have them deal with it. [They wanted precise information of what my parents spent monthly and yearly on EVERYTHING.] I think the IRS might be out to get my parents.

I am from UCSD and the information is posted on the window in front of the financial aid office…

i agree with ben9jam… just call and ask what they want

ben8jam, since you had to verify your info at Columbia it means you’re accepted there right? Congrats! What are you majoring in?

Did someone need assistance?

I’m available if needed be.
