How Difficult are Placement Tests?

Just wondering how difficult, in general, placement tests are, specifically math. (I'm taking a Math 13 placement test, if anyone has any specific thoughts about that one). Are the questions usually pretty general, because it has been awhile since you've taken the course, or had I better make sure to really review as many specifics as I can?

If you got 5 on the Calc BC test you dont have to take it right?

If you have a 5 on Calc BC you don't have to take a placement test, you are put into Math 11, which seems like it basically covers Math 13 topics and some calc 3 topics that aren't covered in BC, but you need to know.

bump...anyone?

I would strongly suggest that you log on to the SA guide (I think you can log in with your email). Look up the courses you are interested in, the Professors and read the feedback about the course/professors

can i take calc 1 if i only took calc ab in hs but got a 5 on the ap

If you want to take Calc I (math 1) yes you can. You must also take math 2 in the winter. Or you can take Math 3 (intro to calc)

You cna click the histograms to see the ranges of exam scores from the 2 midterms.

I'm actually trying to test out of Math 13 and into linear algebra. I looked up the course and it got pretty good reviews. Just wondering if the test on Math 13 subjects was going to be more along the lines of a midterm/final exam from a previous class, or whether it would just try to test me on the basics?

Saila :) :) :)

can't help you with this because I don't remember a poster of the top of my head who has taken math 13. However, looking up exams from all of the past terms of math 13 and woking them out for yourself is a good idea to help you prepare.

lol, gotcha, will do, thanks a lot! I guess I will just hope the placement test doesn't trip me up, I really don't want to have to take that class again!

Does anyone know where to find the syllabi for physics 13 and 14 are? I can't find them anywhere on the website, and I don't know what to revise for the placement tests.

Can you be placed down? I mean, say your SAT II score in foreign language places you in X language 3. Can your placement test during orientation bump you down to X language 2 if you screw up on the test?

Mind,
Good question. Are you looking to totally place out of your language?

Given the scenario you present it could be possible because you will have demonstrated deficiencies and your placement test results during orientation superceeds the placement you had before taking the placement exam.

In a way, I think it would be for the best because it would also show that you maybe you would have struggled at level 3 vs level 2. If you haven't taken your language senior year, it is very easy for you to be rusty because you are out of practice. wile you still have a few weeks, you could purchase a review book and brush up.
