ive applied to schools for the fall 2006 semester. on my application i put history sincethe more popular majors like business, science, communicaitons, psych, etc were considered impacted. FOrtunately Ive just started on prereq major courses and have decided history is not my passion or a career i could go into. I've thought about business, mainly because the wider range of opprtunities and a more stable career that comes along with it. I'm not really fond of math though, how much math is involved in this major? i'm more interested in the concepts and process of business. for business majors was it very difficult or did it take as much commitment as any other major? also how difficult would it be to switch my major to business once i transfer over since I put a different major on my applications? since the requirements would be higher with business being an impacted program. thanks for your time and help

You will need math, but not on the level of a physics or math major by any means. You can do it. If you are interested in business, you can upgrade your math skills over time. What school are you planning to attend? Different schools have different policies on transferring between programs.

If you're in finance or like accounting, I guess that involves tons of math...

Most business majors will involve some math requirements & typically some statistics or quantitative analysis. Also micro and macro economics will deal with some numbers and basic accounting - like managerial and financial with those two courses typically being required of all business majors. It is not super high-level math like science students would face. You could probably handle it.

I'd review carefully the courses descriptions of any of those required business courses and see exactly what they will cover. Ultimately, you can also be proactive and sign yourself up for a math tutor as you take each course!
