I'm not the greatest speaker but I want to do well and receive an A in the class. How hard is it graded? I have Paige Clark as my professor.I will still work hard and try. I just don't like subjective grading(who does?).

Paige Clark seems to have given quite a few A’s last semester, so that’s better than the teachers who gave none, but you’re still going to have to work for it. You’re graded on the quality of your (and your fellow group members) speeches.

Just do what the professor tells you to do, and you’ll be fine. When I took that X104 with Byron Craig, he would always tell us not to memorize our speeches, and it blew my mind that people would still memorize their speeches despite him saying not to.

You may not be a great presenter at the beginning, but if you just focus on doing what the professor says to do, you’ll improve and get the grade you’re meant to get.

So, if I start out really bad but I show improvement to an average speaker, then I would do well in the class?

No, you would do average (though average for Paige Clark seems to be an A-) in the class.
