How difficult is it going to be for me to transfer to a good Virginia school?

I'm currently a freshman at Radford University and I hate it. I didn't do to well in high school and I only graduated with a 3.3. Now that I'm in college, I'm doing much better. I have 5 A's and a B. I hate Radford. The students don't really care about anything but partying. It's not diverse at all. I'm black and I don't feel like I fit in. The people also aren't very friendly. I didn't want to go to a larger school when I applied to colleges in high school but now It seems like Radford is too small. There's nothing going on for me here. The area is dead and all people do is drink. I barely have any friends. I'm miserable...

If I keep my grades up, how hard would it be for me to transfer to George Mason, JMU, or VCU or any other good school next year? I'm an advertising major and I feel like George Mason or VCU would have a better program.

Any suggestions?
I cannot stay at Radford.

With grades like those, you can probably get into all of those schools. I think you probably had a decent chance right out of hs, anyway.

VCU’s acceptance rate is ~62% (very transfer-friendly)
George Mason is ~46%, which is still very transfer-friendly
JMU is 50%

So, if you keep your grades up, you will be able to get into all three.

If you’re looking to go to a larger school, those are probably the safest bets. Schools like UVA and W&M would be reaches.

Good luck.
