The only reason I would want to go to Berkelyei is to get into haas. if i didn't get into haas i would think i wasted my time at berkeley. how difficult is it?

What is HAAS? :-)

the cal bizness school

you apply for haas in the spring of your sophmore year. If you do well in the pre-reqs and what not, you can get in; it's got something like a 50% admit rate, however there's weeder courses that make most people who would apply decide to switch majors. So really it depends on how hard you work and what not.

punkdudeus, if i were to enter haas junior year would i only be taking classes in haas? also are the haas classes smaller than say a foreign language class or a history class? also, nothing against asians, but what is it like being on a campus that is predominatnly asian?

After entering Haas, you can still take classes outside of Haas in whatever subjects you like.

As far as class size goes, that's just dependent on what class. Foreign language classes are actually among the smallest you'll encounter here (my Chinese class has 15 people). Those monstrous 500+ people lectures are pretty much all lower division introductory courses. Haas intro courses (intro to finance, intro to accounting, marketing, etc) have about 200-300 people in lecture, and maybe 30 people in sections. Having taken an upper division Haas course now, I will say that the rooms are A LOT nicer at Haas than in other parts of campus.

Since I'm Asian, I'm not sure I'm the best respondent to your question. I went to a 80% white school, though, for six years so this has been a pretty different experience in that regard. (Also, I think Haas is like 70% Asian compared to Berkeley being ~50% Asian) I feel like there's quite a bit of self-segregation here, which is unfortunate.

If the only reason you want to come to Cal is for Haas, you should probably go some where else.

Are you *ing kidding me? Haas is 70% Asian? Hell, I'm Asian and this really *es me off. Are numbers the only factor into getting in this school?

How plausible is it to double major in mechanical engineering and business?

yeah is it possible to apply as a transfer to the college of engineering and haas the same year

and if i apply and got in as a transfer to the college of engineering (in my 3rd year), can i still apply to haas in my 3rd year and finish a year late?

Thanks!

does anyone know?

would haas + psychology be a simultaneous degree or a double major?

simultaneous because Haas degree is from the school of business whereas the Psych degree is from the L&S college. Nevertheless, it’s very doable to graduate in four years with both degrees.

Unpaper, I’m fairly sure JC transfers are blocked from applying to Haas once they get in, i.e. you have to transfer straight to Haas. Check the website, it mentions this case explicitly.
