Hi, I’m new to this so sorry if I mess up with formatting. I am a sophomore in California and really want to do a science summer program this upcoming summer. I know it’s in a really long time, but applications are in a few months.
My school offers no AP science classes and no STEM related clubs. I am trying to make up for that by starting a science bowl club which I have wanted to do for awhile now. I love science, especially bio, and can’t wait to compete. I know we won’t do well though, because we are young and I only have 3 other people.
I have no science awards or anything, as well as no research experience, due to not having any opportunities. I really want to apply to UC COSMOS, or another free/not super expensive program. Will I still have a chance?
Information about me:
White girl
4.00 gpa- all honors and took 3 community college summer science courses this year
Several hundred volunteer hours
Science bowl team captain/founder
Lots of other unrelated extracurriculars
Most likely great recommendations from college professors in environmental science and astronomy and my high school science teacher
Thanks! (I don’t want something crazy like RSI btw, just something fun and challenging)
