How Difficult Is My Senior Schedule Next Year?

I plan on going into engineering in college, just so this fact is known.
My classes:
AP Literature and Composition
AP Calculus
AP Chemistry
Engineering Development And Design
Chemistry II
AP Biology
Advanced College Algebra/Advanced College Trig (second semester)

I honestly feel that most of these classes will help me prepare for college as an engineering major (Chemical Engineering to be exact). I right now only have a 3.5 GPA (3.7 weighted) and don’t really care about raising, but I would like to either keep it or only go below it a little bit. I am almost guaranteed into my dream college, (an engineering college), so all I need to know is if these classes will help me prepare for and be ready for college classes on the engineering curriculum and general curriculum. Thank you for any answers.

If you’re pretty sure you’re getting into your dream college, I would drop an AP class or Chemistry II.

It’s your senior year and I know from experience that there’s gonna be other things you will want to do than take 4 AP classes and 2 different chemistry classes. There’s so many things senior year like prom, grad night, friends, and of course senioritis!

Of course this is just my opinion but I really think that taking 2 different chemistry classes is not necessary if you think you’re gonna get it.

I still feel that I need to take as many AP classes as I can. I am only taking Chem II because it has a lot more fun labs than AP Chem I’ve heard.

Bump.

If you’re assured of an acceptance to your dream college, and it seems like you are and are only taking advanced classes because you enjoy them and will need them in college, then I suggest taking off AP Lit, even if you do enjoy that. As @pologirl13‌ said, there will be many more distractions in Senior year than any other year (most infamously, senioritis), and unless the class is directly beneficial, there is no need to burden yourself with such a hard class.

Do people often take both Chem classes at your school? Seems redundant.

@Woandering‌ Actually, I only have three english credits and am required to have a four one. I don’t want to take non-honors/AP so I just took AP Lit & Comp, rather than English 110 or whatever else there is.

@bodangles‌ I’m taking both the Chemistry classes because I feel that it will help me really get Chemistry down (I know that basics, this will help get down the hard stuff in Chemistry). Also, I heard AP Chem had rather boring labs (more analytical and such) compared to Chem II which has a lot more fun labs and is a much more easier class.

@Chase25‌
Right, I had realized that you would need to take an alternate English class. I’m saying that if you already have guaranteed acceptance to your dream school, then the AP Lit is extra burden, no matter how much you like English.

Since you seem to “want” to take all of those courses anyway, there really isn’t any point in seeing other people’s opinions. You probably know about the AP credit policy at your dream school, so that solves that question. It is reasonable if you want to satisfy English gen-eds, and taking AP Lit will do that. This doesn’t exactly require other people’s opinions, though.

Your other courses are science related and will in some way help you in your field of learning.

I’m glad I got your opinion on it though, thanks.

Why are you taking college algebra and trig at the same time as AP calculus. You need to know algebra for ap calculus

^^

Advanced College Algebra/Advanced College Trig (second semester) = drop; you’re already taking calculus. If you want a more advanced math program, look at your community college’s schedule and see if they offer Calculus 1 and 2, which you’d take instead of Calculus AB (if you’re taking AP Calc BC, stick with that). Advanced college algebra is below calculus in level.
Have you taken AP English Language? If not, take it rather than AP Lit, or take Honors English.
You do need a social science (history, psychology, economics…) - if you take it at AP level, it’ll be good since it’ll be one less you have to take in college (all ABET accredited engineering programs require a minimum of 2 English composition/literature classes + 1-2 Humanities + 2-3 social science classes).
Have you already taken Physics (1, 2, or C)?

AP Literature and Composition => Honors English
AP Calculus => BC, or dual enrollment calc 1+2
AP Chemistry
Engineering Development And Design
Chemistry II=> if you insist and your school even allows it… ; if you haven’t taken Physics, Physics would be more useful
AP Biology
AP Psychology if you can an easy social science, or AP Econ or AP World or Euro History

@Username97‌ I am taking College Algebra/College Trig to get college credit seeing as they are dual credit classes.

@MYOS1634‌ A local college offers Advanced Calculus I which is basically Calculus and Physics mixed together. It might be too late to apply for that seeing as you have to take a test to get into. I might drop College Algebra/College Trig. AP Lit & Comp is the only above level type of class for English classes for seniors. I don’t really feel like taking a social science seeing as I can just take it in college, but maybe seeing as it would get a social science credit out of the way. Is AP Psychology easy? What do you even do in that class? Also, I’ve taken Physics I & II. I did put AP Physics as an alternate class choice for next year, but I heard that it did not make it but AP Chem, Chem II, and AP Biology made it, although, I do not know if they could fit all those classes into my schedule. I guess I should ask my counselor about my class schedule for next year. Should I ask my counselor about my class schedule for next year?

Thank you both for your replies!

you will not get college credit for college algebra if you took and passed calculus.

Try and see if you can get into Advanced Calculus I, you never know.

Social science is part of the “core group”, ie., you need one every year of HS. (AND in college, it’s not either HS or college :p).
Yes, AP Psych is one of the easy APs.

Yes, go see your counselor to see what AP Science classes you can take.
