What To Study Over Summer for Senior Year Classes

I’m going to be a senior next year and was wondering what I should study over the summer to master my classes for next year. Here’s my schedule for next year.

1 - Home Maintenance/Metals Technology
2 - AP Chemistry
3 College Algebra/College Trig
4 - AP Literature and Composition
5 - Chemistry II
6 - AP Calculus
7 - General Drafting I/Intro to Computer Aided Design

/ = semester course

I just would like to know what books to get from the library or buy from the bookstore/online. Also, just tips on studying these types of classes would be appreciated. Maybe trying some experiments for classes like AP Chem and Chem II. Also, maybe getting software for to study some of these courses. Any answers are appreciated. Thank you all.

Ap classes should have provided you with summer work like calculus and literature

Why are you taking two chem classes?

Why do you have college algebra/college trig and AP Calc in the same year? CA/CT is a preresiquite to AP Calc.

@BillyBill1234 Homework for AP Lit, that’s it. Going to get some books for each class.
@bodangles Becoming a chemical engineer and seeing as AP Chemistry will be harder, Chem II will be a class to do AP Chem work in that I don’t get done in class. Also, I enjoy chemistry and wanted to take two of this subject’s classes.
@TheSlacker16 Pre-Calc is the only prerequisite for AP Calc from what my school requires. Besides, those two classes are rather review for me and will be easy A’s.

So you effectively have like three study halls…

@bodangles Yeah, my school doesn’t offer a wide selection of classes so why not, I couldn’t get AP Bio or AP Physics in my schedule because of schedule conflicts so I am with this schedule.

Welp. I don’t know what kind of colleges you’re going for, but the ones who consider course rigor aren’t going to be impressed by that.

But your life, your schedule, haha. Good luck!

@bodangles Yeah, I’m almost generally acceptable by my dream engineering college (and it’s in state, too). These senior classes (college ones) are just to get college credits out of the way (core/elective credits). Thanks for the wish good luck.

It seems weird to have two of the same subject in one year, there is bound to be a lot of overlap and you have to do two similar assignments then.

Is there a community college near you were you could take intro bio or physics instead of taking two chemistry and two math classes? 3AP’s is still rigorous by most people’s standards, just not for this website. You could also take a foreign language or social studies class.

Chemical engineering classes don’t require much hands-on work or drafting, but both are good skills to have when working. They do use a lot of physics, math, and chemistry. If you want there can be lots of biology as well.

@aqsewfqq There is a Calculus and Physics combined class at a community college but only a select few at my school can go even if a good score is achieved on the entrance test (they choose the people with the highest class rank) and seeing as my 3.5 only puts me in top 15-20% in my class, I wasn’t going to make it in. I just chose AP Calculus. Also, I took Physics I & II, but AP Physics wouldn’t fit in my schedule for some reason. Took Honors Biology but AP Biology wouldn’t fit into my schedule. I realize Chem II isn’t needed but I just find Chemistry so fun and challenging that two classes will just keep my senior year going in a good way. I also took Spanish I & II and then stopped because that’s what most colleges are good with. Finally, I hate social studies so there’s why I didn’t choose another social studies class. Thanks for the information kind user.
