I have read that one of the drawbacks of Michigan, when compared to similarly ranked schools, is that because of its huge size many freshmen and sophomore have considerable difficulty in getting the classes they need for their majors or for other requirements. Can anyone comment on this?

i didnt experience this kind of problem even when i registered few days before classes started. there are some waitlists, but its easy to get in if u wait.

If you come in with a decent number of credits, it should be too big of a problem (>20)

It depends on what classes you want to take. If it’s a popular class like STATS 250, and if you don’t have a lot of AP credits, it will be hard to get into any of the lectures, let alone ones with the better teachers. However, some classes are obscure enough that not too many people will sign up for them.
