How diverse is this campus?

Coming from a small town, not that I hate it,but I know its limits. How is it in Tech?OR should I just go with A&M?

Ha. If you’re looking diversity and liberalness, you won’t find much difference between A&M and Tech in that regard. They’re both filled with a mix of kids from moderately-affluent white suburban school districts and high-achieving white kids from smaller, less-affluent rural school districts like yours. And they’re out in those hicksville mega-campuses to do 3 things only: study, drink beer, and screw. (Usually to really lame music.) If you’re not into that scene, you won’t have a lot of fun at either A&M or Tech, and you’ll either wish like hell you went somewhere else, or you’ll transfer somewhere else.

If you’re looking to explore big-city cultural enrichment, or get your freak on in a way that doesn’t involve greek letters and a keg of beer, you want UT. And if you can’t get into UT (which is probably why you’re choosing between A&M and Tech), then Texas State is kind of like the poor man’s substitute for UT. And if you don’t mind going to a school with a comatose social life, you can go to U of H, UTD, UTSA, UTA, UNT, or one of the other big-city commuter schools that have a nice blend of Asians who still live at home and hang out with their high school chums, Hispanics who still live a home and hang out with their high school chums, and Whites who still live at home and hang out with their high school chums. But at least you can get out into the big city lights every weekend.

If I were you, I’d get your grades up and apply to UT again next year, if that’s where you really want to go.

@ffhrea,I still have UT as my top priority, but the reason Tech is on the mix is because they are the only school that is offering me Petroleum whereas A&M says its full and I may have to wait while I finish my general studies there.

From what I heard,Tech is really great place(in terms of study environment and socializing),but you gave me some advice there that I also need to consider.I haven’t even applied to UT(will go at fall 2012),so I still have time to improve and make my grades as best as possible.Hopefully they have good space on PE.
