How do 2400s on practice tests end up on the real thing?

I've gotten 2 2400s in a row on cb practice tests. How does that corrolate with the actual exam?

Prepare to get a slightly less score, but you should be fine.

wow…congratulations! you’ve hit the dream
your real scores could range anywhere from 2350-2400, depending on your essay score and your mental state. i wouldn’t expect anything lower than 2350, though, especially since you got 2 2400’s in a row.

the thing is just that my cr score fluctuates so much. writing and math im at a solid 800, but cr can go anywhere from 720-800. I got to get it down because i have the real thing saturday

I wouldn’t worry at all if I were you. I would be surprised if you scored anything less than around a 1350. You have it locked down, and I wouldn’t stress over attempting to have the CR constantly perfect. A 50 point difference would do virtually nothing, even if it means that you didn’t receive the elusive 2400. You’ll be fine.

yeah i know, but it’s just worrying me that’s all. I want it to be perfect like math and writing. (I know it sounds arrogant and absurd, but I’m a perfectionist) I want that 2400! I NEED that 2400. lol. anyone have any tips for me to get it consistently perfect?

Don’t stress out about it. A 20-30 point difference won’t make or break getting in anywhere

I feel like the perfect score would look 10x better than a 2350 just bc psychologically speaking the adcom will see it as wow a perfect score but idk if im just being crazy

Probably very close to 2400, like 2360 which is amazing. It depends on your nerves during the test and how difficult that test is on the specific day (luck really). However, don’t expect your grade to be much different,.

Honestly, a 2350 is just as impressive as a 2400 - they both aren’t easy by any means!

Honestly Im thinking the pressure will get you. I’m calling a 2200

How are you grading your essay on these practice exams?

Normally I score higher on the actual test compared to the practice tests. On my practice tests for the Jan test i was getting 2100 or 2150s and then on the actual i got a 2210. For this ive been getting close to 2400s. Just 3 questions wrong. I havent gotten a math question wrong in the last 4 tests (12 sections: 216 questions) and writing i usually get one question wrong. On the january test though i got an 11 on my essay with 2 wrong and got a 780. This time around i have an even better forumula for my essay, so hopefully i can get a 12, but even so, 1 wrong or 0 wrong with an 11 is still an 800. Now reading is the only thing that gets me. As of right now, i have been usually been getting 1 question wrong per section, and it is always vocab, or vocab related. Any suggestions to help me nail all of the vocab?

oh and @chiclanda this isn’t my first test, its okay. lol

How long have you been preparing for these 2400s that you are receiving?

I started prepping in december, after receiving a horrific 1780 on the psat this year. Starting in december, after taking a school-offered SAT prep class for english, my score was at 1970. Then, i practice like hell until the jan test and got a 2210. I was scoring around 2100s on practice tests though. Now, i just recently starting studying in the beginning of may, and i was scoring around 2300s starting out, but then one day reading just clicked and ive been around 2350+ on each exam, and subsequently got two 2400s in a row this last week.

From a 1780 to a 2400? My hat goes off to you, well done.

thanks. but it wasn’t easy. And im sure you can imagine. I practice like 3 hrs a day on avg during the school week. and study all the time in school.

I’ve taken 7 critical reading sections today, 2 math and 1 writing. I’m not even sure why i practice math anymore lol. I should be doing solely reading and some writing, but I still want to stay fresh on the math, and its fun i guess.

Yes I can imagine. But once again, I’m telling you not to worry for your next exam. Worrying won’t do anything. I understand that you desperately want a 2400 because it feels as if you put so much effort into preparation that you deserve it. And if you’re in this state of mind then you’re only setting yourself up for disappointment if you get a 2350, when any other person would be ecstatic. I would say to take a couple more practices, read some vocab, and that’s it. Don’t freak out, you’ll be fine either way.
