How do Cal Poly admins decide if a class in another school articulates with one of their classes?

I’m a CCC Comp Sci student planning on transferring to Cal Poly in the Fall of 2017. I was looking at their selection criteria and I noticed that there are no classes in my CCC that articulate with the classes they have labeled as “Desired” in there list of courses to take before transferring. However, i looked at the articulation agreement between Cal Poly and another, randomly picked, CSU, and made note of the name of the classes in that CSU that articulate with those desired classes. I then checked the articulation agreement between my CCC and the randomly picked CSU and noticed that my CCC actually have classes that articulate with those same classes at that randomly picked CSU, which in turn articulate with the desired classes at Cal Poly (Wow that gave me headache =P~).
So we now have the classic case if A = B, and B = C then it must follow that A = C. But am not sure if that really is how things work at Cal Poly and I was wondering if anyone here knows anything about this matter.

Thanks

Don’t assume A=C. It probably doesn’t.

Use the info at assist.org to determine which courses work. Presume anything listed won’t. Each CSU vets the classes and maps the curriculum - a class that SDSU requires from SRJC might not even be accepted at CP SLO. .

Such are the joys and complexities of transferring between colleges.Thank god you have a resource like Assist at your disposal. The AA-T is supposed to simplify this further but, it seems to be a work in progress.

Not your question but, you should also know that CP SLO accepts just a handful of transfers each year, the vast majority from their ‘local’ CC. Please have a back-up plan in place with another UC or CSU. Perhaps through the TAG program.

I would add that you should contact SLO transfer admissions. They are pretty helpful and going directly to the source may help answer all your questions.
