How Do Colleges Generally Look At the Science Section of the ACT?

My ACT scores:

Composite: 33
Writing: 35
Math: 34
Reading: 33
Science: 28

So my science section is lower, but from what people have been telling me, colleges generally look at your composite, and then your individual math, writing and reading scores, but tend to ignore the science altogether. Does anyone know if this is true? How do colleges generally look at the ACT (I understand that many colleges will have different approaches to viewing the test, but I was hoping for a general idea). I'm applying to some competitive, top colleges, and just wanted to know how much my science would hurt my application. Thanks a lot for the help!

The people have been giving you pretty good info.
In almost all cases I would agree that the science section does NOT matter besides how much it ends up hitting your Composite. Per Example, looking at one of the common data sets for a school I’m applying for it doesn’t even give percentile data for the ACT Science section, just he Math and English section. I’m sure if you checked common data sets for those schools it will show if they keep track of the data or not. My guess is that next to none of the schools will care. With those scores I’m sure you’re right where you need to be.

Thanks a lot for clearing that up, I really appreciate the help!
