Do Colleges just look at ACT English and Math Score or Composite?

I'm just wondering

do colleges only look at the English and Math sections [that's what i'm hearing]

(apparently they don't even care about the science/reading sections?)

Could somebody please confirm?

Or do they care about the composite?

Does science even matter since it's not on the ACT?

Because if they don't look at Science/Reading I'd be ecstatic

35.5 average of English/Math

34 average when Reading is put in

OMG, that would make my freaking life. now i need to know! 30 composite/33 M+E. haha, it’s horrible :frowning:
p.s. i love asher roth. so, great name ;)

For the ACT, colleges only look at the composite. Plus writing if its necessary. They usually don’t consider the individual sections. They might if its an Ivy-league school though.

Look up the common data set (CDS) for the schools you’re interested in. You can google it. See if they report ACT scores. Some schools only report ACT composites, but some break it down and report English and Math too. Usually, it’s in groups (30-36) so anything over a 30 is good… I think. Each school is a little different.

For ACT almost all the schools only look at the composite score except for a couple of schools loke Georgia Tech where they clearly specify in their application that they consider only the Math and English sections.

hohum is correct; CDS will show you whether a particular school breaks down the sections…I know, for example, that Vanderbilt does…not sure I remember others but hope that helps…

not for nothing, asher, your scores are fine (um, more than fine) either way…you’re obsessing over something that in your case, doesn’t matter.
