<p>Haven't you finished applying for colleges by the time you have been informed that you have become a valedictorian?</p>
<p>For admissions they look at the class rank on your transcript, i.e. the class rank you had at the time you submitted your application. High schools usually start ranking people at the end of freshman year (or maybe after the first semester freshman year, I’m not sure). </p>
