Do Colleges Check Valedictorian or "Valedictorian"?

Hello, long story short I transferred to another school mid-freshman year and their policy states that I’m ineligible for Val/Sal. However, I can still be ranked. Currently Im going into 12th grade and Im pretty sure Im rank 1. Will colleges see that I’m rank 1 although I wont be given Valedictorian or will whoever got 2nd rank be praised falsely as 1st rank because (s)he will have Val. title? Thanks.

Of course; AO’s all know how to read a transcript

Colleges will not care. Most vals/sals are not announced until after decisions are made. If you have the top rank, your transcript will reflect it, and that’s all you need to worry about.

Those titles are based upon the school’s rules, and these rules are usually arbitrary and in most cases complete nonsense. And therefore there is no “false” praise happening because the val will be correctly appointed according to the school’s rules. Whether anyone chooses to praise this is another issue. Because another set of rules would have named you as val is irrelevant. That’s always the case with these things because if one school just used the other school’s weighting system, they’d end up with a different val. Which is why the title is silly and not worth worrying about.

Okay thanks. I feel that the title is silly as well, which is why I was curious about whether colleges would consider that into admissions.

How could they when it is not known until a few weeks before grad?
