How do employers who look at your undergrad transcript see P/NP?

How do employers who look at your undergrad transcript (such as consulting firms) see P/NP?

How common in general is it for employers to look at transcripts?

Will they care that much if you have two or three classes taken as P/NP?

I would say no because the only classes you usually take P/NP are usually GE courses which they don’t care about. But I’m sure someone here with more experience on the matter would know more than me :)

Well, if it’s on your transcript and you give it to them, then they’ll definitely see it. I’ve never had an employer ask for a transcript though; things like resumes and CVs (which list little more than your major and cumulative GPA, maybe cum laude if you got it) are preferred.

They won’t care much about the irrelevant classes. Each college is different, for all they know the school only offered P/NP classes.

[Did you know? All MIT freshmen have their first semester classes graded on a P/NR system]

I did. :)

I can name a number of other facets that are inevitably more important than taking a few classes P/NP. I wouldn’t worry.

I never had an employer ask for a transcript–only a few asked for a GPA, and I’m not even sure if they verified it through the registrar or not.

I’m assuming that if that class has nothing to do with your major they won’t care too much. Some companies will ask for a transcript, but that’s pretty rare and mostly just with the bigger companies.
