There has been lots of press recently about anti-asian bias in admissions, and pro black/hispanic bias. What happens when an applicant is, say, white and asian? or hispanic, asian, and white? or black and asian? Is there a separate bucket or do adcoms somehow try to assign some hybrid bump/cut?
Most people I would think who are black and asian would put black just for the extra leg up in admissions. I think that the black/asian would still go into the URM pile while the white/asian wouldn’t.
There aren’t that many black/asian kids so that would add a lot to the college’s diversity while there are many white/asian kids so it wouldn’t help as much.
I have no idea, but there are full asians that do gain admittance that only check the asian box.
