Hey everyone, like many others, I'm looking into buying a laptop for this upcoming year, more specifically I'm looking at the ProBook, but I'm wondering if anyone knew where to get laptops online from Dartmouth, like ones covered by the college.

you will receive a mailing from the IT department over the summer. It will show the computer options available from Dartmouth (Dell and Mac), printers and other stuff. You order over the summer and pick it all up during orientation. (Don't forget, no sales tax in NH.)

Or, you can just buy a laptop from any vendor. The upside with Dell and Mac is that you can obtain tech support on campus bcos the equipment bought thru D comes with a 3 year service warranty.

what? really? During my Dimensions trip I heard from couple of others that D buys a laptop for you. I thought this was an awesome deal, but is this actually not true? Or is this option available only to those on significant FA's?

they definitely do NOT buy laptops for you. You need to order it and pay for it, either thru cash (or credit card) or a FinAid package, which could be a loan.
