How do I calculate my UC GPA?

Hey I live out of California but plan on applying I was wondering if someone could help me calculate my UC GPA, I have taken a bunch of classes over the summer and after school that went on my transcript in case anyone is wondering why I have so many classes. (We don’t have pluses or minuses). We are on a block schedule also so my first four classes each year were taken in the first semester and then the next four are the second semester.

Your UC GPA would depend on what year your summer classes are counted under on your transcript; if they are not on your official transcript, they do not count. But it only includes sophomore/ junior grades and the only honors class that would be weighted is Honors Precalc; all AP and IB courses are weighted (a five on a four point scale). It should be pretty easy to calculate.

As for topaz the summer classes were counted under the year there were under so i had done some research and starting from the classes in the summer after freshman year(including them), they are to be counted in calculating the uc gpa and as for Kawaiiii, do you really think that I hadn’t thought of that.

Also I had taken PE CP in my freshman year even thought it means nothing.

Gumbymom can you tell me how I would type it in because it is confusing because of out of state and then by that standard it means my gpa is complete crap being a 4.36 because I took so many classes and only 8 can be counted a s honors when most are worth honors.

@Samlandon: Your UC GPA is 4.35 which is the highest GPA you can achieve with the 8 honors points capped. UCLA and UCB will also recalculate your UC GPA as uncapped, using all your AP and IB classes. You are looking very competitive.

So I have the highest UC GPA possible?

Or no because I took so many classes?

Yes, all A’s gives you a 4.35 with the maximum 8 honors points.

So on the UC Berkeley facts and figures page it says the average admitted gpa is 4.5(for the school of engineering), so am I below the average?

No, any GPA over the 4.35 UC GPA is uncapped, meaning they take more than the 8 semester of AP/IB classes in consideration when calculating your GPA. The 4.5 GPA quoted is uncapped.

So is that uncapped GPA for me going to be 4.71 at the beginning of senior year?

That looks about right. Just remember UC admissions isn’t just about your GPA, test scores, EC’s and essays will play a big part in the application process, especially for UCLA and UCB.

yes, Thank you for the help though, appreciate it!
